Organising Your Wardrobe

When you look into your wardrobe, what do you see? Is everything organised, or is it chaos central? Most of us tend to accumulate clothes, piling new on top of the old, without a thought as to whether we are still interested in wearing our old clothes.

Before you put one new item into your wardrobe, it's time to have a look at what's already in there. Put some music on, get yourself into a positive frame of mind, and start dividing your clothes into two distinct groups: “Love It” and “Don't Use It”.

The “Love It” pile is easy. The “Don’t Use It” has to have a time limit attached to it of 12 months. If you have not looked at it, touched it, or worn it in the last 12 months, you throw it out. You've had four seasons to wear it; if you haven't, it's time to let it go.

Put all the “Don’t Use It” clothes into two bags: one to charity and one for friends. If there is something special that you think may have some worth, you can always sell it on eBay.

With the clothes that you have decided to keep, divide them into two piles of summer and winter so you can store them accordingly, making it easier to you to find the clothes you want for each season.

Create different shelves for jumpers, pants, long sleeved T-shirts, short-sleeved T-shirts etc. Hang like items together such as all your business shirts in one section, all your sexier tops in another section, all your jeans in another area, or your tailored pants at the end.

By removing a lot of the clothes that you didn't use, you'll end up using and enjoying the close you did keep, a lot more. Your wardrobe will look refreshed and so will you!
